FG Declares Dec. 24, 25, 28 As Public Holidays


The Federal Government has declared Dec. 24, Dec.25 and Dec. 28 public holidays to mark Maulud Nabiy, Christmas Day and Boxing Day, respectively.

The Minister of the Interior, Retired Lt.-Gen. Abdulrahman Dambazau, made the declaration on Thursday in Abuja in a statement signed by the Permanent Secretary in the ministry, Mr Bassey Akpanyung.

“The Federal Government has declared Thursday, 24th December, 2015 aspublic holiday to mark Eid-El-Maulud celebration.

“Friday, 25th and Monday 28th December, 2015 have also been declared as public holidays to mark Christmas and Boxing Day celebration,” the statement said.

The minister enjoined Muslim and Christian faithful to use the unique occasion to‎ pray for the peaceand unity of Nigeria.

He also advised Nigerians to cooperate and join hands with President Muhammadu Buhari in his efforts to build a peaceful, united and virile nation.

Dambazau wishes Nigerians, home and abroad, happy celebrations.

Eid-Maulud is the celebration of the birth of Prophet Muhammed in Islam, while Christmas is celebrated by Christians to mark the birth of Jesus Christ.

6 Nigerian Banks To Merge From January 2016


6 Nigerian banks will be forming a merger in January, 2016.
The merger is as a result of the shock created in their assets and balance sheet sizes in the face of declining oil prices.

Managing Director, Sterling Bank Plc, Yemi Adeola, who disclosed this yesterday said he envisaged possible shrinking in the number of local banks in the New Year. He however, did not list the banks involved in the merger

Boko Haram Will Soon Be History – Sen. Ali Ndume


Sen. Ali Ndume, Senate Majority Leader, has expressed confidence that Boko Haram Insurgency in the North-East will soon become history following renewed commitment by the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari to tackle the menace.
Ndume made the statement on Saturday in Abuja in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN).
The senator spoke to NAN shortly after presenting certificates to 100 internally displaced women, who had undergo three months training in tailoring.
The beneficiaries were part of the 400 women in Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) in a camp in Karu, a satellite town in the FCT.
The camp has a population of 1, 214 IDPs.
Ndume said: “By God’s grace this thing – insurgency will come to pass; it has happened before, it is happening now and will come to pass; it will be history one day.
“We are hopeful that they – IDPs will return home as soon as possible; there is light at the end of the tunnel.
“We thank God that in spite what we are going through; the spirit of our people is still high.
“We are trying to survive; we are trying to make a living in spite the situation.’’
The senate leader thanked the Federal Government, NGOs and other organisations that had supported the IDPs.
Mr Sunday Waba, the leader of the Karu IDPs camp, commended President Muhammadu Buhari and the military for defeating the insurgents.
“We thank the president of the Federal Republic of Nigeria for his commitment to defeat the insurgents and the gallant Nigerian military, who sacrificed their lives to fight these evil people (insurgents).
“We are hopeful that next year by the first quarter, God willing, we will start moving back to our various villages.
“We will return rich because we have acquire skills,’’ he said.
Mrs Lydia Ashifa, one of the women, who benefited from the training, thanked Ndume and other lawmakers from their area, who came to their assistance.
“We are happy, we are very grateful. We will re-elect him (Ndume) again,’’ Ashifa said.
Esther Joseph, another beneficiary of the training, said she was happy to be trained as a tailor.
She said that when she returns home, she would be a proud employer of others.
Mrs Rashida Fagbai, who described herself as volunteer from Lagos, commended the organisers of the training and called on well meaning individuals and organisations to come to aid of the IDPs.
She said that she met some IDPs a couple of weeks ago and realised that something must be done to assist them.
She said that she and other volunteers came to Abuja to present the IDPs with gift items they mobilised in Lagos. (NAN)

According to the Emmanuel Udoh who was arrested after defiling his daughter in their residence, at 2 Ajasa Command Road, Meiran, Lagos state:



“I have had s*xual inter course with her severally. It is a normal thing and I don’t see anything bad in sleeping with my daughter because I know she will not get pregnant because I don’t eja.culate inside her”.Vanguard reports that Udoh's ex-wife took custody of their two children after they separated seven years ago when the victim was ten years old. The victim who lived with her mother reunited with her father when her mother brought her back after she completed her secondary education in the month of September to enable her further her education.

Trouble, however, started, in the evening, on September 13, when Udoh asked his daughter to go and have her bath. The victim who initially refused went to take her bath after her father insisted.

According to the victim, (names with held):

“Immediately I started having my bath in the bathroom I became very dizzy as I became very weak. While I was inside the bathroom I called out for help but neighbours could not hear me because I was weak. It was my father that helped me out of the bathroom and took me inside. When I got inside, he gave me garri to drink and before I knew what was happening, he removed my wrapper and had s*x with me. I don’t know if he drugged the water as I became very weak.''
