Diezani Allegedly Plots To Escape From UK To Another Country

Ex-Minister of Petroleum Resources, Diezani Alison-Madueke, is on the verge of leaving her present abode in the United Kingdom for the Commonwealth of Dominica where she has reportedly acquired the citizenship, The Nation can authoritatively report.

Mrs.Alison-Madueke is currently under investigation in Britain for alleged corruption while in office.

Investigators in the UK and Nigeria were shocked by the discovery that she had secretly acquired the citizenship of the small Caribbean country of only 72,000 people.

But sources in the UK said the National Crime Agency (NCA) was already monitoring her movement.

It was learnt that the lid was blown open by some anti-corruption and civil society groups in the UK.

Alison-Madueke’s new citizenship was confirmed in a May 29, 2015 approval letter by the Prime Minister of the Commonwealth of Dominica, Roosevelt Skerrit, according to a document obtained by one of the groups.

The letter also claimed that the ex-Minister has been appointed that country’s Trade and Investment Commissioner for the Republic.

Although the letter indicated that the appointment was without salary package, she is expected to help in promoting and marketing Dominica as a trade and investment domicile.

In the diplomatic passport, DP0000445, the Dominican Government said Diezani should be allowed to “pass freely without let or hindrance and afford the bearer such assistance and protection as may be necessary.”

Issued on May 21, 2015, the diplomatic passport is expected to expire on May 20, 2020.

The granting of citizenship to the ex-Minister, whose passport indicated was born on 6th of December, 1960, has attracted diplomatic concerns.

“I think the NCA is suspecting that she acquired the citizenship of the Commonwealth of Dominica with the intent to relocate to this country. This has opened a fresh bend into our investigation,” a source said last night.

“It is not impossible that she had planned to escape to Dominica ahead of the inauguration of the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari because her appointment ought to be effective from June 1, 2016 for an initial period of three years.

“She has been placed under stricter surveillance in the light of the latest development.

“While the diplomatic aspect is being handled by the appropriate quarters, I can tell you that the NCA is collaborating with many agencies to bring her to account for any allegation against her.

“The NCA is conducting extensive investigation into the oil deals during the tenure of Diezani, irrespective of her ongoing treatment for cancer.”

The International Corruption Unit (ICU) of NCA on October 2 arrested Diezani and four others.

All the suspects are being investigated for alleged bribery and money laundering.

Nigerian Army Reduces Death Sentences Passed On 66 Soldiers To 10 Years In Prison

The Nigerian Army has commuted the death sentences it passed on 66 solders earlier this year to 10 years imprisonment.

This was contained in the statement by the Acting Director, Army Public Relations, Col. Sani Usman, on Saturday.

The army had in January and March 2015 in separate courts martial sentenced the 66 soldiers to death by firing squad for mutiny and other charges.

“The soldiers were arraigned on several count charges that include criminal conspiracy, conspiracy to commit mutiny, mutiny, attempt to commit an offence (murder), disobedience to particular orders, insubordinate behaviour and false accusation, among others,” the statement, which noted that 71 soldiers were tried, said.

“They were tried, discharged on some charges but found guilty and convicted on other charges which included mutiny. Out of the number, 66 were found guilty on some of the count charges and sentenced to death, while five were discharged and acquitted and one was given 28 days imprisonment with hard labour.

It added that the cases of other soldiers were being reviewed and would be made public once the appropriate reviews are completed.

The decision to commute the sentence of the soldiers, the army said, following series of petitions.

The petitions caused the Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen. Tukur Buratai, to order a legal review of the cases.

“The directive was carried out to examine the merit of each case. It was on the basis of the review and recommendations that the Chief of Army Staff commuted the death sentences of the 66 soldiers to 10 years jail term. The sentences are to run concurrently,” the army said.

MEND threatens to resume militant activities in protest of NASS members huge salaries/allowances

The Movement of the Emancipation of Niger Delta, MEND, has threatened to resume militant activities if members of the National Assembly receive any outrageous allowances. Spokesman of the group Jomo Gbomo said this while speaking to newsmen yesterday June 21st.

“These wicked individuals appropriate to themselves huge and absurd salaries and allowances at the expense of the millions of hapless Nigerians, who have not been paid for months, their salaries, pensions and other benefits they deserve.
The Niger Delta region, where the bulk of revenue that sustains the nation comes from, continues to suffer neglect, environmental degradation and lack, made worse by the very corrupt and visionless past government of Goodluck Jonathan and his cronies, some of who still shamelessly parade themselves on national television and other media platforms as ‘Niger Delta Activists’.

Nigerians refuse to tolerate this ostentatious lifestyle of our lawmakers, whose main objective, it seems, is to enrich themselves and carelessly spend scarce resources. The Niger Delta people refuse to pamper and cater for the needs of these thieving Assembly rogues to their detriment. If the lawmakers refuse to make the necessary adjustments needed to accompany the needs of the masses and the Niger Delta region, it may lead to the resumption of hostilities.”he said

How Assassins murdered IYC official in Rivers [Graphic Photo]

Gunmen, on Friday, stormed the residence of the National General Secretary of the Ijaw Youth Council Worldwide, Mr. Bristol Alagbariya, and killed one of his aides.
It was gathered that the gunmen, suspected to be assassins, had shot and killed Alagbariya’s personal assistant, simply identified as Silver, after realising that their target, the IYC general secretary, could not be found.
The incident, which took place along Ada George, in Port Harcourt, the Rivers State capital, scared passersby and other occupants of the building.
A source told Southern City News that Silver was later found in a pool of his blood few minutes after the gunmen left.

The source said, “Hired assassins with AK 47 numbering about four, on Friday invaded the residence of the National General Secretary of Ijaw Youths Council Worldwide, Engr. Emmanuel Bristol Alagbariya, brutally murdered one of his personal assistants in cold blood and scaring the life out of everyone they met after realizing that the target man was not around.
“The IYC general secretary, who has been fully engrossed in preparation for an upcoming Rivers Ijaw Summit in commemoration of the 58th year of the Henry Willink’s Minority Commission and celebration of some revered heroes for their selfless contributions towards the recognition of Niger Delta, was said to have convened a meeting of the Rivers Ijaw summit organising committee at his residence.
“While committee members were waiting for him to join them, a bus belonging to the National Secretary drove into the compound and was swiftly followed by the assassins who were all along laying siege outside his compound.”
“They surrounded everyone believing that the national secretary was in the bus, but to their disappointment, their target was nowhere to be found. In that frustration, they proceeded to the room where the committee members were about to meet and ordered everyone to lie flat.
“It was at this moment that one of the gun crazy assailants, for unverifiable reason, decided to shoot and kill the personal assistant to Alagbariya,” the source added.
A statement sent to Southern City News via electronic mail, disclosed that security had been beefed up around Alagbariya while the Rivers Ijaw Summit would still hold as planned in Port Harcourt.

Speaking on the incident, the state Police Public Relations Officer, Mr. Ahmad Mohammad, said investigation began immediately the report of the killing of Alagbariya’s aide reached the command.
Mohammad assured that the police would apprehend those behind the dastardly act and bring them to justice.

I’ve been charmed by the sleek styles that Kim and Kanye’s offspring has sported as she sits front row at Fashion Week on her mother’s lap, arriving to ballet class in custom Balmain blazers, or globetrotting to far-flung locales on family trips.
Whether a top bun or a comb-over, North’s pint-sized hair styles complement her fashion-forward play clothes, while remaining refreshingly easy and age-appropriate. They’ve established little Nori as a kind of hair icon for a nascent and diverse generation of tots rocking their natural curls with unprecedented flair
