Nyanya Bomb Explosion: INTERPOL hands over alleged mastermind to Nigeria




The mastermind of the April 14th Nyanya bomb blast, Aminu Sadiq Ogwuche, who fled to Sudan after the bombing, has been arrested and handed over to Nigerian Security officials by INTERPOL.

29 year old Sadiq, believed to have been radicalized while studying at the South Wales University in Sudan, was arrested on May 14th and was only extradited today to Nigeria

GEJ cancels meeting with parents of missing Chibok girls, berates #bringbackourgirls group



According to a report by BBC, President Jonathan has cancelled his proposed meeting with parents of the missing chibok girls after accusing #BringBackOurGirls campaigners of playing politics

Jonathan had been due to meet with the parents of the victims today but he canceled it last minute, saying the #BringBackOurGirls group should be ashamed of manipulating "the victims of terrorism"

"Unfortunately, political forces within the Nigerian chapter of Bring Back Our Girls have decided to take this opportunity to play politics with the situation and the grief of the parents and the girls. They should be ashamed of their actions. Those who would manipulate the victims of terrorism for their own benefit are engaging in a similar kind of evil: Psychological terrorism," President Jonathan said in a statement

Presidency says parents of Chibok girls canceled the meeting not GEJ

  
In a swift reaction to earlier reports that President Jonathan cancelled his meeting with the parents of the missing Chibok girls, the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Publicity, Dr Doyin Okupe said on the contrary, the parents of the missing Chibok girls were the ones who cancelled on the President on the advice of the #Bringbackourgirls campaign leadership.

Speaking with newsmen in Abuja this evening, Dr Okupe said the President, the Vice President and other principal staff were actually waiting for the 4pm scheduled meeting with the parents but they never showed up. He said that the leaders of the #bringbackourgirls campaign, who brought the parents to Abuja by paying for their transportation and accommodation, advised them from honoring the President's meeting for selfish reasons. He said with this action today, the campaigners have shown that they no genuine interest in the missing Chibok girls.

Tambuwal asks Federal Government to negotiate with Boko Haram


The Speaker of the House of Representative, Aminu Tambuwal has asked the President to negotiate with terror group, Boko Haram if that would secure the safe return of the kidnapped Chibok girls.

The speaker said this today July 15th while receiving the leadership of the #BringBackOurGirls campaigner in his office at the House of Assembly.

"If negotiations is what would bring back for example Chibok girls, for Goodness sake, lets negotiate and save the children. Negotiation is not submitting......you are not just submitting, you are not. It is a strategy. So let's get these girls out and then if you want to confront them you go ahead and confront them and take them head on but whatever we need to do, we must do as a government to bring back these girls safely & alive" he said.He urged the campaigners to continue with their demands for accountability.

Troops crush insurgents ambush at Delwa in Borno, 3 soldiers killed

Troops on patrol around Delwa and neighbouring communities (in Borno state yesterday Wednesday July 9th) successfully broke through insurgents’ ambush 35kilometres to Maiduguri as they advanced to dislodge insurgents who were massing up in the area.
The fierce fire fight that ensued as the troops wadded through the ambush left scores of insurgents dead, while 3 soldiers died in action. 7 soldiers who incurred various degrees of injuries have been evacuated for treatment while the troops have continued with their mission.
