What the heck happened tonight? Brazil just lost 7-1 to Germany in the semi-finals of the 2014 World Cup. Did this happen or am I dreaming?...I have a headache.

So without Neymar and Thiago Silva, Brazil is just chaff? The same Germany that couldn't beat Ghana? Oh dear lawd! My head is pounding!!

In what is bound to be a very exciting year for Nigerian consumers, families and dancers, Maltina, the premium non-alcoholic malt drink from the stable of Nigerian Breweries plc has set the stage for season eight of the popular family dance show, Maltina Dance All (MDA). The 2014 edition tagged “The Rhythm of Happiness” will chronicle a new dance style known as Rhythm of Happiness Dance (ROHD). Continue...





The audience was excited when Osas Ighodaro, Comedians Gbenga Adeyinka 1st , Oluwasegun Ogundipe (Aka Laffup) and Chigul opened the show with a powerful demonstration of the ROHD earning themselves applause from the crowd in the jam packed Silverbird Galleria, Lagos venue of the press conference heralding the beginning of the season.

Renowned for “sharing happiness” and promoting togetherness with friends and loved ones, the MDA is the consumer engagement and experiential marketing platform that the brand deploys to resonate with esteemed consumers and the society in general.


Speaking at the press briefing Mr. Kufre Ekanem, Corporate Affairs Adviser, Nigerian Breweries plc represented by Mr. Edem Vindah, Corporate Media/Brand PR Manager said “the dance performance we have just seen is a tip of the iceberg from this season of Maltina Dance All. As we all know, it is the foremost experiential and sponsorship platform of the Maltina brand renowned for promoting togetherness with friends and loved ones. The TV show, which made its debut in 2007, has remained Nigeria’s first and only family dance TV show featuring families from various regions across the country.”

He added that the show is “about the emotions, excitement, fun and the unbreakable bond that ten families will showcase when they challenge themselves by learning and performing various dance styles in the famous Maltina Dance All academy.”

On what is up for grabs for this year’s edition, the Corporate Affairs Adviser said the winning family will go home with the grand prize of a whooping sum of N10 million. The first and second runners up will also get N3 million and N1 million respectively. This is a considerable increase from the N6 million, N1 million and N500, 000 won last year by contestants.

The show proper will be preceded by regional auditions which will kick off in Port Harcourt at the Atrium Event Center on July 18th - 19th; Lagos - National Theatre on July 24th - 26th and Abuja - Nicon Luxury Hotel on August 1st – 2nd.Interested Nigerians can go online and register at www.maltinadanceall.tv or they can register at the venues of the auditions for a chance to participate. Kefee's burial arrangement announced


Burial arrangements for late Pop-Gospel singer, Irikefe Obareki Don-Momoh have just been announced on behalf of the family, by the Kefee Memorial Committee (a coalition of Kefee's family & friends in the Gospel Music & Entertainment Industry).

The singer will be laid to rest at her hometown, Okpara Inland in Delta State this Friday 11th July. Read full details after the cut...

President Jonathan today July 8th presided over the 2nd Council of State meeting for the year at Aso Rock villa where VP Namadi Sambo, past Nigerian leaders, State Governors, National Assembly leaders and some other key government functionaries gathered to deliberate on pressing issues facing the nation, with particular focus on security.

Past Nigerian leaders including Gen. Ibrahim Babangida, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, Chief Ernest Shonekan, Alhaji Shehu Shagari, Gen Yakubu Gowon, Gen Abdusalam Abubakar, all attended the meeting. See more photos after the cut...

State Governors present included Adamawa state governor Gov Murtala Nyako, Adams Oshiomhole of Edo state, Theodore Orji of Abia, Emmanuel Uduaghan of Delta, Aliyu Babangida of Niger state. Also present were some former Chief Justices of Nigeria.





After the meeting, the council gave the assurance that Chibok girls will soon be found. Gov Godswill Akpabio of Akwa Ibom state who spoke to pressmen after the meeting said top on the agenda of the meeting was the security of the nation and the missing Chibok girls. He said the President in conjunction with the the National Security Adviser, Col. Sambo Dasuki (rtd.) briefed the council members on steps they have taken to ensure that the girls are rescued safely from their abductors.
