Michael Jackson footage triggers lawsuit

Los Angeles - Footage of Michael Jackson has triggered a lawsuit.

The production company behind the upcoming film Michael Jackson: The Last Photo Shoot is taking legal action against the late singer's estate over a video of him at the Brooklyn Museum of Art in New York.

The movie - which is set to be released later this year - also features interviews with the Michael's friends, photographers and stylists.

Director Craig Williams insists he has a right to include the footage in the documentary while the Jackson's estate attorney Howard Weitzman claims the images should remain private and are being "exploited" by film makers.

He told The Hollywood Reporter: "The makers of the documentary are attempting to exploit footage and photographs of Michael Jackson, which we believe are owned by his Estate.

"The documentary contains footage of Michael during private moments that he never agreed could be publicly and commercially exploited without his consent and/or involvement. Michael never authorised or approved the use of this material in the film."

However, the movies' production company Noval Williams Films maintains that it has validly obtained the rights to the footage.

According to a complaint filed in New York's federal court, it is believed the Jackson family were offered the chance to purchase the rights to the video but passed up the opportunity before the director decided to buy the footage in May last year.

The documentary makers are now seeking declaratory relief that it use of the video isn't infringing copyrights.

Kardashian store will be a 'lifestyle experience

New York - Kourtney and Khloe Kardashian are on the hunt for a new base in Manhattan.

The sisters - who are currently filming in the Hamptons, where they are opening a Dash store - reportedly looked at a five-storey corner property in Soho last week with plans for a huge "full-concept Kardashian lifestyle experience".

A source told the New York Post newspaper's Page Six column that the sisters want to turn the first two floors of the building into a flagship Dash store, with the other three storeys being used to house offices for the family businesses.

The whole building is available to rent for $2m a year from Jack Terzi of JTRE, who bought it for $15m in May.

The real estate mogul and his broker personally gave the group a tour of the building.

However, the property may not be as private as the sisters could hope and could attract a lot of paparazzi attention thanks to 80-foot-long wraparound windows.

One source said: "Some 300 photographers and fans were crowding the building en masse while they were checking it out.

"They were pulling out their cellphone cameras and crowding them to try and get a shot."

The Kardashians currently have a Dash store at a nearby Soho location, as well as boutiques in Los Angeles and Miami, and the pop-up store in the Hamptons.

Kris Jenner's talk show Slammed

Los Angeles - Kris Jenner's talk show has been slammed by a Fox TV executive.

The Keeping Up with the Kardashians star had a six-week test run of a talk show on the network last summer, but bosses knew early on that 'Kris' would never develop into a full series as they felt the showbiz matriarch was ''uninteresting''.

Frank Cicha, senior VP and president of programming for the Fox Television Stations said: "I think she was pretty uninteresting on camera.

He went on to say; "That was one where sister company 20th Television tried to capitalise on a name. ... When the camera was on she looked not just like a deer in the headlights, but like a deer that already got hit."

However, the executive admitted Kris worked hard and improved as the series went on, but the show never did well in the ratings - until the final show when son-in-law Kanye West was a guest and showed off baby pictures of his daughter North, now 12 months.

Cicha told The Hollywood Reporter: "It wasn't a disaster in the ratings."

The executive went on to explain Kris didn't fit well with the station group's schedule and would have been expensive to produce.

He concluded: "When you added it up, it wasn't a show that made sense for us.

Kim's sideboob causes a Stir

Hamptons – Only Kim Kardashian can manage to cause a stir by simply going out for lunch.

The Keeping Up With The Kardashians star had tongues wagging when she went out for lunch without a bra, wearing a billowing skirt and a tight-fitting black vest top.

Residents in the Hamptons were worried that the filming of the latest Kardashian spin-off show would draw unwanted attention to the luxury location. Seems they were right.
